Vin Diesel to Write, Produce, and Star in Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Live-Action Motion Picture from Mattel Studios and One Race Films

December 4, 2025

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) today announced that acclaimed actor, producer, and filmmaker Vin Diesel will write the live-action Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots feature film for Mattel Studios and his production banner One Race Films.

As previously announced, Diesel — best known for leading blockbuster franchises such as Fast & Furious and Riddick — will also star in the film and produce alongside Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and One Race’s Samantha Vincent.

Based on Mattel’s iconic tabletop boxing game, Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots will bring the legendary Red Rocker and Blue Bomber to life in an all-new live-action adventure.

Robbie Brenner, President of Mattel Studios and Chief Content Officer, said: “Vin is a powerhouse storyteller with an unmatched understanding of action, heart, and world-building. His creative vision for Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is bold, human, and deeply cinematic—exactly the kind of storytelling we love at Mattel Studios.”

Vin Diesel said: “I am excited to expand the Mattel universe by bringing this classic toy from my childhood to a modern audience by telling a story that examines the role of competition in a world often measured by strength and dominance that dares to reveal the power of compassion at its core.”

Mattel Studios’ vision is to collaborate with leading creators to make standout quality content based on Mattel’s iconic brands that will resonate in culture and appeal to global audiences. Its Masters of the Universe and Matchbox films are both slated for release in 2026.

Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots will be overseen by Darian Greenbaum and Andrew Scannell for Mattel Studios and Vin Diesel for One Race.
